too big for locals to handle

HONG KONG - Huang Nubo, a poetry-loving businessman with a history of clambering up snow-covered mountains, figured buying a piece of Iceland made good sense, not least to "save face" when an Icelandic friend recommended a plot.
Huang's love of nature has landed him in hot water with the locals, who see him as a front for a Chinese government wanting a strategic Arctic foothold as climate change opens the region to potential oil exploration and other strategic possibilities. Others claim his purchase will help China secure a deepwater harbor at the mouth of a river running from one of Iceland's biggest glaciers - part of Huang's plot.
